Foton Auman LNG – with full range versions in China

LNG trucks for construction, distribution and long-distance transport are in offer of the Chinese Foton.  At the Xian Commercial Vehicle Show, a manufacturer linked to Mercedes (Daimler) demonstrated 16 types of LNG trucks. The Auman liquefied natural gas model uses Cummins gas engines ranging from 350 to 550 hp. Foton offers LNG trucks in the Asian, CIS and South American markets.

Auman LNG is the flagship truck of the Foton brand, produced in cooperation with Daimler (Mercedes). This German manufacturer owns 49% of the Chinese JV that produces various types of cars and utility vehicles. The company’s ambition is that Auman LNG will be available in 16 different configurations for a wide variety of tasks – from construction, through distribution to long-distance transport. In December 2020, Foton presented various body configurations at the Xian fair – from 2 and 3-axle tractors to heavy 4 × 8 chassis. The plans to conquer the Chinese market are supported by considerable interest in natural gas trucks. In China, from January to September 2020, 116.5 thousand were sold. natural gas trucks – CNG or LNG.

Foton Auman LNG will be powered by Cummins gas engines. Various sizes of engines from the X12N and X15N series with a capacity of 10-15 liters and power from 350 to 550 HP will be placed under the hood. The flagship solution will be a long-distance tractor with a 550 HP Cummins X15N engine and 2600 Nm of torque. The ZF automatic gearbox will be responsible for the transmission. Foton has performed comprehensive tests of LNG trucks. The most demanding conditions included working at an altitude of over 5,200 meters and a temperature of -35 ℃. The installed gas installations meet the strict ECE R110 certificate. The largest tractors can be equipped with 4 LNG tanks with a water capacity of almost 2000 liters. This allows you to refuel 800 kg of LNG and travel 2600 kilometers on one refueling.
